:Our young black lab is a house dog, but we do leave him outdoors in our fenced yard when we have to leave the property. We got a nice, large fiberglass dog house just so he would have a place to go when it rains. Before I placed the one-piece top on the base of the new house, sat inside and the dog joined me for a bit of play. After the hosue was assembled we put treats inside. The dog (reluctantly) went in half-way and got the treats. Since then the only way he pays attention to his house is when I stand there and throw in a few treats. Any ideas on how to encourage him to want to use his new house???

He may not see any need to use his dog house- not the brightest thing if it IS raining! LOL I don't know how you can convince him that he should use it, esp. if you're not home when he has access to it. My dogs arenever outside when we're not home, so I really can't give you any sound advice on this - unless it's to keep him inside when you're away. Nancy
