:She got an anti-inflamatory ointment to put in her eyes 2x a day for 10 days. Her eyes are mildly inflamed and it hasn't gone away since her visit to the vet last month. The vet suspects that it might be allergies, or, as she has seen in many mastiff-type breeds, that it's just kind of a different norm for her. She checked her eyes, and she doesn't have any eyelashes running against her eyes.
Food allergies and skin allergies are common in our breed. I recently learned that brutus is allergic to poultry. REMEMBER that i feed a raw diet. So took out the poultry and the remainder of itchy PINK pink skin has already started to leave.
:Also, have any of you guys here heard about the Lyme Disease vaccine? The vet suggested getting her vaccinated because Lyme Disease in our area has skyrocketed in the past 5 - 6 years. What do you think? Is it worth it?
Ok you really need to weigh the risks of the vaccine against the risks of not having the vax. I have been looking at this myself. Personally I am planning not to vax other than the 3 year rabies as required by law. In Leiu of the vax, I am having Titers done which test the antibody levels in the systems. If his antibodies are fine he wont be getting vax. Now for the lymes I havent looked into that one yet. I live in a city and have never seen a tick. I dont think we are going camping this year because of wedding so I will probably be able to put it off for a year for research. Heartworm is real high here so I am dosing heartguard year round at every 6 weeks. Seriously look at risks. Especially with possible allergies. The drugs for allergies that they give dogs are pretty heavy duty..

OHHH brutus has one of those... He gets SOOOO mad at it... CHews on it for a while then because it doesnt break, he stands there and barks at it...
