::I was looking up Eagle Pack online. They seem to have a good diet for large breed puppy food. What do you think? Does anyone else here have any advice? What do you feed your large breeds as puppies?

::My concern is Hip Displaysia. Sophie is a very active pup. She goes up and down stairs with ease, and doesn't pass up a chance to jump off of the couch and beds, which makes my nerves fry.

::I want to make sure that Hip Dysplasia is not something that I will have to deal with in the future.

:For one thing, feeding puppy food past maybe six months is totally unnecessary and can cause overgrowth, putting a strain on the skeletal system (though once upon a time I fed puppy food for a year and didn't have problems, this is the current thought). I DO have large dogs (both 80 lbs. give or take a couple) and keep them lean. One has a very displastic hip, the right and I manage it mostly with feeding lean (keeping the weight down) and fresh food. She is 13 and I don't think I should be putting her through surgery. I would read up as much as possible on dog nutrition and then make a decision whether you want to feed a good dog food or go all-natural and make your own diet. With dogs, as with humans, what you are is what you eat. Feed healthy and you get a strong immune system and good bones, teeth and coat.

Are you another of the raw feeders? What kind of food do you feed to feed lean. Can ya tell diet is a big interest of mine with the pup? Dam dog eats better than me!
