:NO efficacy studies? This really gripes me! We can test eyeshadow on animals for OUR benefit, but we cannot do efficacy studies on a new vaccine that benefits the animals themselves?
:Sometimes I really do think the entire drug and biologic research and approval processes in this country are so hopelessly screwed up and corrupt that we'll never get good, unbiased science except by accident.

That is a frightening statement. Here's a fact. Unvaccinated horses are dying of West Nile Virus. Vaccinated horses do not. I assume you are discussing horses, as dogs are marginally affected. You are blasting the manufacturers and the process because the vaccination program has been made available before an entire regimen of efficacy has not been given? Would you say the same of the FIV vaccine in cats that has recently become available, despite the fact that it will save lives? Would you say the same of an HIV vaccine? Me thinks your priorities are a bit skewed, Ms. Keith. That's a shameful chastisement on the disease prevention community. You would prefer animals to die? Have you seen a horse die of West Nile Virus? It ain't pretty. and it's so preventable
