:If there exists a vaccine for a horrible disease, we should all use it and not question it, and shouldn't expect some scientific, rational basis for its efficacy, because there is some mystical connection between the horribleness of a disease and the efficacy of the vaccine.:

Ms. Keith, I don't believe anyone ever said such a thing. I don't particularly appreciate the translation.

:Remember, asking questions is DANGEROUS and if you do dare to question the ethics of the medical establishment you are showing disrespect to the veterinary, medical, research, and drug manufacturer communities, abusing your authority, and most likely being UNAMERICAN while you're at it. I'm a bad, bad person. I have a mind of my own.:

Now that's a real stretch, and at no time were any such things suggested.

:Speaking of facts and opinions, I'm curious how GreatNSmall can justify the statement that horses who are vaccinated are immune, in the absence of efficacy studies. And isn't that where this whole dicussion began?

:Something is presented either a FACT, like "horses who are vaccinated are immune," or it's presented as an OPINION. Facts need evidence, obviously opinions don't. I get very irritated when people present things as facts without any evidence to support them.:

Please read the publication quoted in my post of yesterday. At NO TIME did I suggest that anyone was portraying the vaccine as providing life-time immunity. That is not known at this time. My point is that it is irresponsible to blast the process because it does not meet your ideals. Vaccines and other drugs with life-saving and life-altering properties are often fast-forwarded through the process. To equate this with corruption and deceipt is shameful. And that, in my opinion, was your objective.

:The credibility of a position doesn't depend on the credibility or authority of the person who made it, of course, but on each individual's evaluation of the evidence. Without evidence, all our opinions are worthless.:

Read, Ms. Keith

:However, I will present it as a matter of fact, rather than opinion, that I am indeed both knowledgeable and empowered. ;)

Your patronizing is neither amusing nor pertinent. And just gives credence to my earlier comments concerning use of this and other mediums for your own personal soapbox. I've provided fact. It's apparent that your opinions cloud your ability to assimilate and decipher fact.
