::Well, GreatnSmall I didn't follow what your message referred to too well, there.

:LOL, RedSky, I didn't follow it too well, either, and it was aimed at ME!

:I think the gist of it is something like this:

:If there exists a vaccine for a horrible disease, we should all use it and not question it, and shouldn't expect some scientific, rational basis for its efficacy, because there is some mystical connection between the horribleness of a disease and the efficacy of the vaccine.

:Remember, asking questions is DANGEROUS and if you do dare to question the ethics of the medical establishment you are showing disrespect to the veterinary, medical, research, and drug manufacturer communities, abusing your authority, and most likely being UNAMERICAN while you're at it. I'm a bad, bad person. I have a mind of my own.

:I am not sure how to categorize the vets and doctors and researchers who ALSO question their own professional worlds and on whose work I rely for my own facts and opinions.

:Speaking of facts and opinions, I'm curious how GreatNSmall can justify the statement that horses who are vaccinated are immune, in the absence of efficacy studies. And isn't that where this whole dicussion began?

:Something is presented either a FACT, like "horses who are vaccinated are immune," or it's presented as an OPINION. Facts need evidence, obviously opinions don't. I get very irritated when people present things as facts without any evidence to support them.

:The credibility of a position doesn't depend on the credibility or authority of the person who made it, of course, but on each individual's evaluation of the evidence. Without evidence, all our opinions are worthless.

:However, I will present it as a matter of fact, rather than opinion, that I am indeed both knowledgeable and empowered. ;)
