Hi! I'm glad you're doing your research. Since you don't know yet what your reaction will be to any dog, I would recommend tracking down some people that already own the breeds you are interested in and ask to spend some time with the dogs. It isn't fair to the dog for it to come home with you only to find out a week later that you're allergic to it. There are no "hypoallergenic" dogs. Some shed more than others, and some have more or less oily coats than others. Schnauzers and Airedales are "low shed" breeds but do require a lot of professional grooming. So do Poodles and Bichons, two other breeds known for being good for those with allergies. Greyhounds are also a breed to consider. They don't have a lot of hair or an oily coat. It will also be pretty easy to find a greyhound adoption group that will let you spend some time with some dogs to gauge your reaction. I myself am allergic to cats in large doses (eg, my job at a vet clinic) but Zyrtec keeps the allergies in check. Good luck!
