They are similar dogs, with a few differences. My boston terrier is NOT cuddly. She will snuggle when SHE wants to, but otherwise, she has better things to do. i have been told it's a female dog thing, as boys seem to be very affectionate. Frenchies seem to be all about cuddling.
Bostons are more active. My girl loves to run and run and run, whereas Frenchies are happiest warming the couch.
Frenchies can be a bit more expensive. But as for health, the Boston terrier is being overbred, so they probably have more health problems. Eye problems are prevailent in both breeds, as are breathing and stomach problems.
Boston terriers are trainable, although of average intelligence. Frenchies are probably more stubborn, being a bulldog and all! i am training my Boston in agility and obedience, but i don't see either breed participating in performance events that often.
If you do decide on a Boston terrier, please look into adopting a homeless dog! i work in rescue, and there are many, many Bostons who need homes.
Good luck in whatever decision you make. :)
