My advice is to always suppervise when they are together until they are completely trustable (for the puppy's safety). But mainly treat the older dog as the dominate dog. That means - feed the older dog first (basically put his food down first if they eat in the same room), greet the older dog first, pet the older dog first, play with.... etc. That doesn't mean to ignore the puppy. Include both, just include the "top dog" first, then pet the puppy.

As the older, your first dog will be dominate over the puppy. If you pet the puppy first, you aren't respecting the order of the pack (you & your family, older dog, puppy)and that will make the older dog upset. As long as he's still the leader of the dogs it should be easier. Still expect some resentment at first.
