New to this board and have a question...

I have a 6 month old Plott Hound. He is doing fairly well with training (as well as can be expected with a scenthound). We are having a real big problem with him jumping up on the counters and table and grabbing stuff off from them...mostly food but not always. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to stop him of this? It is getting very frustrating. We have tried the double sided tape and mouse traps and it doesn't deter him.

BTW, his name is Buddy Boy and he is a fantastic pup...very loving and sweet. Here is a pic of him:
